IMC was created with the mission of serving the needs of the Tucson music community. Over the last few years we took a look at the musical landscape here and committed to offering an all-inclusive string department in our store.
TAKE A QUICK TOUR
Breaking the Fourth Wall
We used to have one small strip of slat wall in our store with just a few student model instruments displayed.
Since then we've expanded our string department into an entire block of our store with four walls filled to the brim with professional, intermediate, and student level instruments perfect for any progressing student looking to upgrade their sound and playing experience.
Instrument need a little help? Our on-site luthier is just a few steps away.
On our walls you'll find violins, violas, cellos, and upright basses from Maple Leaf Strings, Eastman Strings, Scherl & Roth, Knilling, Angel and more in addition to strings, shoulder rests, music, cases, stands, rosin, and maintenance gear fit for players of every level.
We've dedicated much time educating ourselves and each other about the inner workings of stringed instruments, how they're made, what makes them special, and how each one is different than the next.
We know it can be a bit more challenging to suss out these differences than with other musical instruments, so our entire staff attends monthly training sessions led by our good friend Jason Bartel, CEO of Maple Leaf Strings, to continue to work toward building a richer understanding of stringed instruments, and how to confidently share that with our customers.
Take a Bow
Gone are the days of your only options being a student level fiberglass bow and a cheap wood bow that warps before you can get the hang of it.
A bow to an instrument is like a paintbrush to a canvas.
If you wouldn't use a cheap plastic paintbrush with professional grade paint, there's no reason you shouldn't invest in a professional quality bow to meet the quality of your instrument.
We teamed up with CodaBow to bring Tucson bows worth rehairing over and over, and when your bow needs a little TLC we suggest going straight to the source. The CodaBow Workshop also offers rehair and maintenance services.
