Brenda Willer Buys

Woodwind specialist, Dr. Brenda Willer Buys, was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. An active music performer, she plays bassoon with the Sierra Vista Symphony Orchestra and the chamber ensemble, LuftBassoons. As a music educator, she has taught students of all ages on bassoon, clarinet, flute, oboe, and saxophone. She taught private lessons with the Santa Cruz Foundation for the Performing Arts in Patagonia, Arizona and Music Lessons Express in Tallahassee, Florida. Currently she teaches elementary school music at Creation School in Vail, Arizona and private woodwind lessons for Instrumental Music Center in Tucson, Arizona.


Dr. Buys holds a DMA in performance and bachelor’s degrees in both clarinet and bassoon performance from the University of Arizona. She also holds a master’s degree as a woodwinds specialist from Florida State University. At both the U of A and FSU, she served as a teaching assistant. 


When she is not busy playing music or making reeds, Brenda enjoys learning new things including video editing, pottery, tap dance, and all kinds of crafts. She also loves spending time with her husband and two kids.
