Mary Monaghan

Teaches: Trumpet, French Horn, Baritone & Euphonium

Mary Monaghan is an avid performer and teacher. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from Oklahoma State University in 2019, her Master's Degree in Music Performance from Illinois State University in 2021, and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Horn Performance with a minor in Ethnomusicology from the University of Arizona, where she is a University Fellow.

 

Her primary teachers have been Lanette Lopez-Compton, Rachel Hockenberry, Johanna Lundy, and Jennifer Post. Mary has performed with the MIOpera, Illinois Valley Symphony, Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra, Sierra Vista Symphony, Tucson Pops Orchestra, Tucson Repertory Orchestra, and the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. Mary has lived all over the Midwest and Midsouth. She has taught beginning brass students to seniors in college performing degree recitals. As a performer, Mary prioritizes music by diverse composers and as a teacher she focuses on individual instruction to best meet each student’s needs.

 

In her free time, Mary enjoys baking, reading, watching 80’s movies, and spending time with her two cats: Thomas and Wilfred.
