We asked Darren 5 questions about his life as a musician. Here's what he said:
What's your favorite venue to play in Tucson?
Hotel Congress (since flycatcher/plush closed down)
What's the funniest thing that's happened during a performance?
The sound tech tripped on the stage power strip instantly cutting all mics and amps, effectively turning our performance into a super memorable “acoustic set” that I’ll never forget!
What's your first memory as a musician?
Playing hand percussion in my Tata’s band, I had to hide behind the drum riser since I was well under 21 years of age in the bar we were performing in.
What's your favorite song to perform?
It really fluctuates on my mood, but I generally love to keep energy positive and moving forward through original compositions of mine.
What's the best advice you've ever received?
As a songwriter, to write things that I enjoy, and not to write my music to please anyone else.
