Learn more about how you can best prepare for festival season below:

1. Expand Your Repertoire: Get familiar with many genres and styles of music. If you want the chance to participate in a variety of events you'll have to be prepared for the variety of music that'll be included. Taking the time to practice jazz, classical, contemporary and more will give you a higher chance of being able to showcase your skills.

2. Meet People and Collaborate: You're going to be surrounded by tons of musicians, industry professionals, directors, and composers. Take advantage of masterclasses, workshops, jam sessions, and connect with the people around you. You never know what building those relationships now could mean for your future.

3. Stay Organized: Between rehearsals, events, and performances, staying organized is going to make a huge difference. Make sure to add everything to a calendar that works for you, and to also make time to practice, sleep, and eat right to support your brain during this hectic time.

4. Prepare for Performances: Dedicate time to practicing before performances. Tone, intonation, dynamics and timing are all great things to focus on. If it feels too intimidating to take on yourself, practice with friends, other members of your ensemble, or look into lessons to get a little extra support.

5. Embrace Learning Opportunities: Remember what a great opportunity for growth Festival Season is. Every event, competition, concert, and class will give you valuable tools, feedback, and insight that you can apply in all areas of your life, but especially as a musician.

You got this! Don't forget that you have the power to make the most of Festival Season this year, and you can take all of your experiences with you into your musical future.
